Community Health Worker

The Community Health Worker assists in providing oversight and coordination for the Healthy Start Volunteers known as the Community Action Network; this includes activities and meetings. Outreach activities include recruiting pregnant and inter-conceptional women to our Case Management services, knowledge of Case Management functions would be beneficial. Must work collaboratively with other Community Health Worker and assigned staff.

Desire to work with people of diverse background and life experiences; demonstrate community outreach experience and knowledge of confidential policies associated with HIPAA compliance. Good written and oral and public speaking skills, time management and organizational skills, and a proficient use of computers and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Additional duties involve maintaining effective working relationships with potential clients, families and support staff from community agencies and with the general public.

Position is considered full-time with a 40 hour work week with flexible hours. Annual Salary high 20’s (negotiable).

Requirements:  High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred. A combination of work experience and education may be considered in place of education. Two or more years of experience working in a non- profit organization preferred. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Requires extensive travel by car in the five (5) Bootheel counties – Scott, Pemiscot, New Madrid, Mississippi, and Dunklin; candidate must have reliable transportation with unexpired automobile insurance coverage and valid driver’s license.
