The Community Health Worker assists in providing oversight and coordination for the Healthy Start Volunteers known as the Community Action Network; this includes activities and meetings. Recruits and enroll assigned numbers of pregnant and inter-conceptional women per month for Case Management services. Must work collaboratively with other Community Health Worker and assigned staff.

Desire to work with people of diverse background and life experiences; demonstrate community outreach experience and have knowledge of HIPAA compliance. Good written and oral communication skills (public speaking), time management and organizational skills, and a proficient use of computers and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook). Additional duties involve maintaining effective working relationships with potential clients and families, professionals, paraprofessionals, and support staff from community agencies and with the general public.

Community Health Workers are considered full-time with a 32 hour work week with flexible hours.  Annual Salary Mid 20’s.


Requirements:  High school diploma or GED required; Associates Degree preferred. Two or more years of experience working in a non- profit organization preferred. A combination of work experience and education may be considered in place of education. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Requires extensive travel by car in the five (5) Bootheel counties – Scott, Pemiscot, New Madrid, Mississippi, and Dunklin; candidate must have reliable transportation with unexpired automobile insurance coverage and valid driver’s license.
